This is 'Real Spain', far away from the tourist resorts, where many families still earn their livelihoods off the land, as generations have done before them. The local people are friendly and helpful. There are dozens of historic towns with origins in Roman and Moorish times. The Spanish love to party and there is often a local fiesta taking place nearby. Ancient castles, churches and prehistoric sites are here in abundance. Every day has a local market full of colour, fresh produce, textiles and arts and crafts. Or why not just enjoy the comfort and ambience of the casa? Laze by the pool! Pick some almonds or apricots! Spend a little time with Andre as he passes with his goats!  Saunter down to the spring for some crystal clear mountain water – or just drink in the silence, solitude and scenery 

The Casa is situated high in the the Sierras de les Estancias.

Our local village, Oria, is 5 minutes drive away, for shops, banks, bars and restaurants, etc.

Los Cerricos and then Saliente with its monastery and locally renowned restaurant are a little to the east.

Chirivel, to the north, is the next nearest village.

The nearest town, is Albox about 30 minutes drive on near deserted roads. Here you will find large supermarkets and a Tuesday market.

Partaloa, a village on the way has horse riding.

All the towns and villages have colourful markets, churches, fiestas and places of interest.

 

Baza lakes and hot springs (west) or the Mediterranean beaches of Aguilas (east) or Mojacar (southeast), with its golf courses, are about an hour's drive. There are lots of other beaches with watersports waiting for you to discover them. The water slide park is at Vera Playa.

The historic market towns of Velez Rubio and Velez Blanco with prehistoric caves and a castle are found within the scenic  Sierra de Maria.

The Observatory at Cala Alto, Tabernas, with Mini Hollywood, where spaghetti westerns were filmed, and Nijar, famous for its ceramics, to the south, are just over an hour away

The Alhambra Palace at Granada or the ski slopes of Pradollano in the Sierra Nevada are only 2 hour's away.

Explore on foot/bike in the land around the Casa. Follow the tracks through the scattered hamlet and nearbye villages, or scramble up the surrounding hills. There are maps available to borrow and we can advise on the best routes.

Or just sit by the pool and chill!
